Vikings Cavalcade is dead.
The end.
Just kidding…this is only partially true. After only releasing a handful of episodes in
nearly five years, Branden and I have decided to end the Vikings Cavalcade
podcast. This has been in our thoughts
for at least a year, as the last time we were truly active in podcasting was
the 2015 season.
When we started in 2013, we decided to do a weekly
podcast, but things never truly took off as we only did a few episodes in that
first year. Life took over from there,
and the VC podcast became a once-in-a-while thing.
One factor was the format; when you dedicate a blog
or a podcast to one thing, you feel obligated to talk about only that thing (in
our case, the Minnesota Vikings). If you
look at radio stations like KFAN, they talk about the Vikings, sure, but they
talk about every other sport, too.
The Vikings Cavalcade blog will continue through
this season, and then I will make a decision on whether to continue or shut it
down as well. I look forward to covering
what is hopefully a successful 2018 season.
